Artist’s Statement …

Since 2020, I've been painting Western art in the limited time young motherhood allows. My work captures the small, everyday moments of Western life—seeking out connection, grit, intensity, and a quiet sense of nostalgia.

Painting with oils lets me build on these themes through subdued colors, soft edges, and quiet presence. Although I have not attended formal art school, I have taken several workshops and pursued self-study to better understand the medium. Oil paint is the only one that truly settles with the themes and feelings I am looking for in my work.

I start by collaborating with local ranches. I love hearing their stories and weaving those lived experiences and memories directly into the layers of each painting. Showcasing small, family-run operations is something I take great pride in. I use these references and experiences to create work that might spark curiosity about the grittiness of rural life. I don’t enjoy romanticizing this way of life—my paintings often include ear tags and dirty horses. Real life is often more interesting than a polished front.

In 2026, I'm focusing on building a cohesive body of work centered on the themes I've described: connection, grit, and intensity. As my small family has grown over the years, my focus has narrowed to what truly matters to me in my work.
