2027 WORKSHOP:

Backcountry Brushwork with Madelynn Mutter

Experience - Study - Paint

Join me at Skyline Guest Ranch to experience an artist’s dream: cowboy modeling sessions, trail rides, study from life, painting demonstrations, and recharging in the great outdoors. Spend time gathering references, asking “why” you create art, and painting among horses. This will be a week to artistically recharge and prepare yourself to create artwork with a deeper meaning.

DATE: June 7th - 12th, 2027 LOCATION: Foothills of Beartooth Mountains, Montana. Space is limited to 9-11 students.

The Goal is to give your work a deeper meaning…

  • Understanding your “WHY”

  • Focused painting time with one-on-one guidance

  • Taking concepts to finished pieces

  • Photograph Modeling sessions to add to your reference library

  • See the world around you as an artist

  • Sketch and paint from life

Students will receive a small supply kit with a sketchbook, brushes and panels from Jack Richeson Art Supply, pens, and more.

Take your own reference photos and see the Western world in your own way. Use your experiences from camp to create artwork that has a deeper understanding and feeling.

Come and paint with me!

What I am looking forward to most is spending time in the mountains and delving deeper into my reasons for painting Western art: grit, small moments, and connection.

This will be the experience of a lifetime for any artist. Join me to study horses from life, enjoy guided studio time, and explore the deeper meaning of your own artistic voice.
